This is so cute! Is this a joke?

Why?

That's my question.

Why would someone suddenly think, "I wonder if I could make paper out of sheep's poo?"

It is just so random.

We looked at this to use on one of our jobs at work. the finish was excellent and exactly what the customner was after. Unfortunately the price wasn't what the customer was after.

Sheep's poo has fibres within it (after being treated, sterilized, and dried etc ..) that makes good paper. I guess with all the trees being chopped down for paper and global warming, recylcing poo into paper is, well, a good thing. But it isn't any ordinary poo. It is poo collected off the beautiful, green Welsh hills. There is obviously a brand story behind this too. Plus the people were sponsored by an environmental agency, and so on.
Lots of companies are doing quirky things like this to save the environment. One of my favourite is the Kettle Chip company that uses the old oil it used to fry its chips with as fuel for its chip delivery vans.

I think they used simple old manual labour for most of the work so guess it isn't cheap.

No this isn't a wind-up. Check out Deedbuya's comment ..
They now, also, make paper out of reindoor poo (if you are interested ...).
The company won a Yahoo award too for something or another.

Eamon...I read bits and pieces of the Poo Paper website yesterday...but still...

Well Eamon, it looks like recycling has now gone 'down the toilet'. If it saves the environment, then of course I hope they are 'flush' with success. So I hope you don't mind my 'droppings' by, and I'm so sorry to 'dump' all these puns on you, 'butt' I just couldn't help it!

Sheep's poo is basically just grass (I am not an expert on this .. but that is what I gather). And just makes not bad paper .. I guess in this age of protecting the environment and recyling stuff, it's quite popular. One of the guys here (Deedbuya) was going to buy it for work - quality was good price not so good.

I don't know butt if what you say is true then I think they will be making a nice wee fortune indeed ..

Looks a bit grainy so could be a bit sore so give it a miss ..

I prefer the old fashioned use for sheep dung: fertilizer. But wash your hands after using it, cuz they get a little bit 'turdy'.

hahahahahaha

The old adage, “where there’s muck there’s brass,” comes quickly to mind!

Exactly. A farmer cousin of mine is doing well turning cow sh*t into ferlizier. Everybody laughed (and still laugh) when they hear what he does for a job - but he is the one laughing at them now ..

Sheep fertilizer or cow fertilizer, what's the difference; its all academic.! Thanks for a moooooo-ving comment.

(laughing at all the commenting - what witty folk ye be)

Well, someone's gotta do it, I guess, but how'd they even come up with the idea? Ya gotta wonder what inspired the "Hey! Let's go harvest poo for paper!" business endeavor.

It all sounds logical, though. I might check out the website later.

Hi everyone - we make the said paper at our paper mill in Snowdonia . . . and the washing water goes back into production as fertilizer, so its a zero waste operation - we have no bins and no drains!!

And yes, Moo Poo PaperTM is in development!
